of skincare and makeup products and aggressive marketing is making it difficult

This is the precise reason why I thought of writing my first review on one of
the best-selling CC creams in India - Lakme 9 to 5 Complexion Care Face Cream.
Another reason for my review on this CC cream is because Lakme is a reputed and
reliable makeup brand and I have heard a lot about this product from a couple of my
friends. So thought of trying it out myself and then letting you all know.
First & Foremost - What is CC?
The abbreviation CC stands for ‘Color Correcting’. The main intention of using a CC cream is to give a brighter and lighter tone to your facial skin. It also helps in tending to issues like redness and sallowness of your skin while protecting it from the harmful rays of the sun due to the ingredients present in the cream.
About Lakme 9 to 5 Complexion Care
Face Cream:
To begin with, Lakme 9 to 5 Complexion Care cream is one of the best selling CC creams online, BUT it does not use the term ‘Color Correcting’ anywhere in its product package. On the contrary, it clearly specifies that it is a ‘Complexion Care Cream’ and promises to ‘reveal a glowing skin, even skin tone, moisturize and refresh your facial skin, conceal dark spots and give a makeup finish’. Lakme projects this cream as an ‘All in 1 instant skin stylist’ while promising to protect the skin from UV rays as it is a ‘SPF 30 PA ++’ product.
This product is available within a tube
format and packaged in a pretty, glossy pink box. The Lakme 9 to 5 CC cream is
accessible in four shades – beige, bronze, honey and almond, though the beige
and bronze shades are the most popular of the lot.
As a guidance and tip, Lakme has
recommended the beige shade for fair to very fair skin tone, the honey shade
for women having fair to wheatish complexion, bronze for wheatish to dusky skin
tone and the almond shade for dusky skin toned ladies. I must say that this tip
is quite good and helpful for users.
If you are looking to purchase this product online, then I would recommend Amazon or Nykaa because I could find all the four shades of this CC cream at heavily discounted prices.
My review:
This product is most suitable on Indian skin tones and definitely travel friendly, as the 30g product that I reviewed is easy to carry in a handbag. The cream when squeezed from the tube offers a creamy texture, has a mild fragrance and is light when applied on the face.
Though this cream offers a medium
coverage and doesn’t cover up the pigmentation (the cons that I observed), it
is suitable on all skin types.
On gently rubbing the cream on my face and neck, I noted that the yellow undertones of the cream blend easily with my skin tone, thereby offering a moisturized and bright look. It also helped in covering very small marks. What I also observed is that if I apply a translucent powder over this cream, then the look I get is equal to applying a foundation and makes this cream last longer (about 7-8 hours). This desired effect was a result of my continuous presence in a well-ventilated place. However, if you sweat more or are planning to roam outdoors, then a touch of compact/translucent powder is needed.
Overall, I would conclude that the Lakme 9 to 5 Complexion Care Face Cream is easy on the pocket, has a really good SPF and is perfect as a
light makeup. It can be used every day to attain a smooth, natural and radiant look. Teens, college and office goers would surely love this product, as
it doesn’t make your skin look patchy or cakey. Although,
if you are looking to buy a product which would conceal your blemishes and give
a full coverage then look for something else.
