Hello everyone, I have come with a review on a Lakme product again.
Before sounding a bit biased towards the brand, let me tell you I own quite a
few Lakme products and each of them have suited me well till now. So, instead of holding myself back, I thought of sharing my experience with the products I use through these reviews.
The
product that I am reviewing today is Lakme Rose Powder with Sunscreen. I have been using this product regularly for more than 6 months now and it
has still not finished. And I am not complaining about it either. Before
moving further with this review let me remind you that this product is a loose
rose powder and NOT a compact. It can be used daily, whenever you are venturing
out to give you a fresh and radiant look. It can also be used as a touch up on a
foundation base or a makeup to get a smooth and oil-free face. It can also be used
for your eye makeup.
About
Lakme Rose Powder with Sunscreen:
Lakme
Rose Powder with Sunscreen (40 gm) has been advertised as a loose face powder
with sunscreen and contains extracts from real roses. The brand also claims
that their product controls oil for long hours as well as protects your skin
from harmful sun rays.
As
for the packaging of this product, the outer circular plastic tub like container, looks and feels quite sturdy on hand. It is dark brownish/dark purplish (I am unable to conclude) in colour
as you can see in the picture above. On opening it, you find another fitting 5-holed
transparent plastic lid. This inner lid might have been kept to avoid the
powder from scattering when you open it. Finely milled pink coloured rose powder resides below this inner lid. The upper side of the inner lid holds
a soft puff which helps you dab and apply the powder.
The
back side of the container lists the ingredients as Talc, Zinc Stearate,
Cyclopentasiloxane, Titanium Dioxide, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Perfume
and Rosa Damascena Extract. It also says that the product may contain phenoxy
ethanol, butyl paraben, ethyl paraben, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, CI
77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 12085 and CI 77891. This product is best to use
before 24 months from the date of packaging.
Lakme
Rose Powder with Sunscreen is presently available in two shades – Warm Pink and Soft
Pink. Warm pink is ideal for wheatish to dusky skin tones while the soft pink
shade works wells for fair skin tones.
My
Review:
My
review on Lakme Rose Powder with Sunscreen is on their warm pink shade that I own. I bought this product
through Amazon @ Rs. 128/- (The real price is Rs. 160/- though). I have been using this rose powder for over half a year now and it has worked
quite well for me. The main pros about this product has been that it does not
give out a chalky or whitish look that you normally see when you apply talcum
powder on your face. On the contrary it gives out a finished, smooth look like
you get when you apply compact powder (the rose powder finish however does not
long as last as compact). This lovely powder has a subtle rose fragrance, is
light on application and also blends well with my skin tone. So I have no
complaints here.
With
regards to applying this powder, I have experimented with it a lot. I have
dabbed it mostly after applying a layer of fairness face cream whenever I go
out. At times I have brushed this powder over my face and neck area after
applying a foundation base to give a polished look. In very few instances I
have washed my face, patted it dry, applied a thin layer of gentle moisturizer
and then finished my look by brushing this wonderful powder on my face. On all occasions, this rose powder has given me a smooth finish and that too without
causing breakouts. This powder was able to conceal my very tiny blemishes and was
also good in absorbing excess oil. But do not expect miracles from this
product. The matte type finish lasts for a maximum of 4 hours (if you are in a well-ventilated indoor area). You
need a touch up after that.
My biggest grievance regarding this product is powder spillage. I feel the inner lid is not very effective in offering sufficient powder through its holes. You need to open the lid. Whenever I open or close the inner lid during use, some amount of powder does disperse in the air. This has happened to me a number of times despite being careful while handling it. This can be irritating at times. The ease of convenience regarding carrying this tub of powder depends on your bag size. If it is a handbag, then this product fits in well but carrying it in a small purse can be difficult (especially when you have few other essentials in it). Another thing that is left to a user’s imagination is the SPF content. The tub mentions Lakme Rose Powder with Sunscreen, but apart from the word ‘sunscreen’ you know nothing more about it. Last but not the least, is the presence and amount of parabens in it. Varied types of parabens MAY have been used in the making of this product, the quantity of which is not known.
Considering
everything, I would say Lakme Rose Face Powder with Sunscreen works more than your
regular talcum powder but less than a compact. Despite a few minuses, it is still a
very satisfying product. It is quite handy, offers a medium coverage and works amazingly as a daily makeup aid. Not to forget, the quantity of the powder,
which is ample and lasts for many months. However, if you are looking for a product that would offer full
coverage, lasts longer on your face or gives out a shimmery finish then you need to find
something else.
My
Ratings:
4.2/5 👌👌👍👍. I would definitely purchase it again and suggest you all to give it a go.
